The legendary Toyota Celica LB Turbo Gr.5 returns in this updated 1:24 scale model kit from Tamiya, featuring new Cartograf decals, updated packaging, and revised instructions. Originally released in 1978 as a motorised kit, this classic racing subject remains one of the most striking silhouettes of the golden era of Group 5 racing.

Developed for the fiercely competitive 1977 German Racing Championship (DRM), the Celica LB Turbo was based on the road-going Celica Liftback but heavily modified for circuit racing. Aggressive aerodynamic upgrades including massive overfenders, a huge rear wing, and lightweight FRP body panels transformed the car into a true racing machine. Beneath the bodywork sat a powerful 2,090cc turbocharged inline-four engine producing an impressive 560hp.

The Celica LB Turbo made its racing debut in July 1977 and quickly proved its capability, famously defeating the dominant Porsche 935 to claim its first victory later that same year.

Tamiya’s detailed kit faithfully recreates the car’s dramatic Group 5 appearance and racing cockpit, making it an essential build for fans of Japanese motorsport and classic endurance racing.
